As of September 2024, a lot of the below “About the Artist” is somewhat outdated, and in need of update – which will be coming in the near future!  While I no longer am aiming for my MFA, I still create and am greatly inspired by the world around me and the beautiful farmlands of Pennsylvania around me.

Mindy Esworthy (b.1992, United States) is currently working on an M.F.A. in painting from Savanna College of Art and Design received a B.A. in Art with a Minor in Photography from Eastern Mennonite University.  Her work has been exhibited at galleries in Harrisonburg, Virginia, although she hopes to branch outwards with her work.  Her most recent exhibition was part of a group show in July 2018, where artists were paired with pre-written poetry and challenged to creates works based on the writing.

Her painting work focuses primarily on abstracts, nature, and textures, placed onto the canvas using non-traditional sculpting methods and cake decorating bags.  These techniques allow the art to pop off of the canvas, whether it is in the form of overlapping lines or blooming flowers.  Her art is inspired by her grandparents, who taught her how to paint and to have an appreciation for nature and the earth.   She also enjoys working in ceramics, watercolors, and printmaking as well.

She is currently living and working in Harrisonburg, Virginia, letting the Blue Ridge Mountains and George Washington National Forests inspire her work.  Her current goals are to become more involved with galleries and to continue on with her education in the arts.
