Painting is a medium that I was introduced to at a very young age. My grandfather was an oil painter who worked primarily in landscapes so I was influenced very early on by his work but I didn’t take up painting as my medium until my experience at Eastern Mennonite University. I work primarily in acrylics and watercolors, though I have experimented with oils. Most of my work is influenced by the natural world around me and by the idea of creating connections through works. I also experiment with application in my process, using items such as palette knives or cake decorating bags to change the texture of the paints on top of the canvas.
